According to the Statistical Abstract of the United States, 1946, the average number of women employed in the civilian labor force increased from 13.4 million in the first quarter of 1942 to 19.35 million in the third quarter of 1945.

The Bomb-Shell was an employee newsletter published by the staff of the Elwood Ordinance Plant.
