Joliet Remembers
The 1930s

Charles A. Lindbergh, Jr., son of famed aviator Charles Lindbergh, was born on June, 22, 1930. According to the Website, Famous Cases: The Lindbergh Kidnapping, the infant was kidnapped on March 1, 1932 from the Lindbergh's home near Hopewell,  New Jersey.  The Website further notes that the child's body was found on May 12, 1932, and that Bruno Richard Hauptmann was tried, convicted, and executed for the crime.

Below are images of headlines of stories from the Joliet Herald-News about the kidnapping of the child, and the trial and execution of Mr. Hauptmann.
